Today we’ll talk about grammar. Learning grammar can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be! Even if you’re learning a language close to your own, it’s hard to know where to start. In this post, we’ll show you some tips on how to hit the ground running, or how you can start learning Spanish grammar. (Hint: you can use these tips to learn other languages too!)
Yes, you need grammar. A lot of people like to avoid grammar, as learning the rules can be really boring and tedious. What these people may not know is that grammar is your friend. Think of it as the friend that makes you finish your workout even when you say you’re tired. It can be challenging to master all of the rules, structures and exceptions, but it’s a good workout. You may feel like you will never learn it all. Keep studying, memorizing and practicing.
In consistency lies the power. That’s not just an expression – it’s a fact of life. When you do something every day, it becomes a habit. Aim to do something well, and keep at it. If you practice speaking badly, you will become a poor Spanish speaker. If you practice speaking Spanish well, you will be a good Spanish speaker.
You may struggle for a while, but keep at it. One day, things will start coming back to you. You will start to say phrases automatically. With practice, some expressions will just make sense. Learning grammar helps you to understand more and communicate better in Spanish, and gives you the chance to be more easily understood. Once you learn the basics, you can get more creative.
